Short, Sweet and Superstitious

***************Mr. Smith is normally a hard working, level headed man who is blessed with a good sense of humor. Once in a while though, his superstitious side crops up. For the first several years of our marriage Mr. Smith was convinced that the birthmark on the inside of his right knee was in the shape of Africa. He liked this thought because he served his mission in South Africa. In the last few years, however, he has decided that it is actually shaped like India. This really tickles his fancy (for obvious reasons) and is often brought up in conversation. I must admit that the resemblance to India is definitely stronger than Africa. It does become a little annoying though, when I feel like complaining about India or being homesick and Mr. Smith smugly points to his knee as if to say (use big ominous voice) "Do not argue with The Birthmark!" But, generally speaking, it is cute and endearing. Since nothing interesting happened this week I thought I would share this with you.
P.S. In the interest of preserving my current state of marital bliss I would like to point out that the adjective "Short" in the title of this post should be applied to the length of this post and not to Mr. Smith who is 6 feet tall. Clearly nobody would ever refer to him as short, although sweet and superstitious are certainly applicable. Thank you.

Not that there is anything wrong with being short (ahem)....

And tell him the mark looks a heck of a lot more like Arizona to you.

Start packing the suitcases. Hope to see that birth mark. Ask the kids if we can bring Cody over to see you while you are "home".

As for Mr Smith, he is short compared to Ben isn't he?

Okay, that one made me burst out loud laughing. All the kids came running over to see what was so funny, but they didn't get the comment, and I didn't take the time to explain it.

S.C. - No, no, nothing! Of course not. We love vertically challanged people.
Aunt Carol - When I asked my kids about Cody, I almost lost what is left of my hearing when they all shouted, "Yes!" So tell cody to start packing his doggie bag.
Toni - That made me laugh too, we must be long lost sisters. Wait.

I always thought that birthmark looked like a strawberry. Oh well, what's a mother know. I think it now looks like Arizona too.

Ok people... for the record, The Birthmark is simply an oddity that I think is particularly cool. It did not direct our trip to India, nor has it become any more of a focus here than it has even been. AND - if I might add - mrs smith is the first one who pointed this out to me while reading a travel book and staring at my sexy legs. Now, let us all pray to The Birthmark and give it offerings - cash only please.

Believe it or not Cody does have an overnight bag. He is packing as we speak. He says "woof" to the Smith Kids.

Okay, you two got me rolling. I thought the original post was funny enough, and then I read Mr. Smith's comment. After moving to Idaho Falls I got a burn on the back of my hand that closely resembled Idaho state. (Wonder if I could get any offerings for that...)
